Back in 2000, cellular phones began to be widely used by the people of Pakistan due to the decrease in prices and increased availability. This led to a surge in the number of cellular subscribers in the subsequent years.
Unfortunately, this increase also brought about the misuse of technology for illegal activities and terrorist attacks, often involving unregistered SIMs.
In response to these issues, the PTA introduced an advanced SIM Information System in 2009. This system was created to maintain a digital record of SIM subscribers, allowing users to check the number of active SIMs linked to their CNIC.
